Off Leash Dog Training
Off-Leash Dog Training – It Can Be Hard, But It's Worth It…
Training your dog to comply with your commands while off the leash can be hard, but it is very rewarding. Just imagine it; walking with your dog firmly by your side. Here is a simple method that you can use in order to off leash train your dog and have it walking right there alongside you in no time.
For this, you'll need two leashes; a longer one and a shorter one.

Start by training your dog to heel on-leash. While this may sound obvious, there are many people who want to off-leash train their dog without actually having ever trained them on-leash in the first place. Teach your dog to heel closely without pulling on the leash.
Once your dog has learnt to heel, it's now time to drop the leash. If the dog continues heeling, great! Praise your dog and perhaps give him or her a small treat. If at any moment your dog starts to stray from your side, grab the leash and give it a quick tug or two to get your dog back into position.
Once your dog can heel indefinitely, it's now time to move onto the next step. Take a smaller leash and attach it to the dog's collar. Start heeling. You will have less control this time round, but you can still grab the leashes and correct your dog's position if it happens to stray at any time.
When your dog can heel on command and indefinitely using the short leash, you can now move on to performing the steps above with no leash. Once your dog can heel with no leash, you can start walking. Remember to praise your dog when he heels and follows alongside in order to reinforce good behaviour.
